Wyoming Medicaid
Medicaid is run by the state. Here is where Wyoming residents apply, and how it fits with other coverage.
Who runs Medicaid in Wyoming
Medicaid in Wyoming is administered through Wyoming Department of Health. Eligibility and applications are handled by the state, not by an insurance agency, and there is no charge to apply.
Wyoming has not adopted the ACA Medicaid expansion, so coverage for adults without children is limited. Some residents in that gap qualify for marketplace help instead.
If your Medicaid changes or ends
Losing Medicaid can open a special enrollment period to buy marketplace coverage. Act quickly, because the window to enroll after losing coverage is limited. You can call us to talk through the options, or contact the marketplace directly.
Medicaid and Medicare
Some people have both. If you are 65 or older, or disabled, and qualify for Medicaid, your state may help pay Medicare costs. Wyoming WSHIIP (State Health Insurance Information Program) can explain this for free.
